SAME Japan Intern Spotlight: Jaden Oshana at SLK Japan/インターン紹介:SLK Japanのジェイデン・オシャナ

Hands-on engineering, a standout briefing at the August 2026 Okinawa monthly meeting, and a summer that set the bar for our intern program.
This summer, SAME Japan Post intern Jaden Oshana completed an internship with SLK Japan, gaining real project experience at the intersection of engineering, industry, and military community quality of life on Okinawa.
One of Jaden’s main projects was building an inventory management system to organize and track window profile components. Using Python, Flask, SQLite, and Excel, he designed a tool to make inventory information more accessible, organized, and efficient for the SLK team — the kind of practical build that moves from classroom theory to shop-floor value.
He also researched and delivered a presentation at the SAME Japan Post August 2026 Okinawa monthly meeting on advanced window technology and how high-performance systems can reduce aircraft noise and improve living conditions on military facilities in Okinawa. His brief covered how VEKA window systems can strengthen insulation, cut noise impacts, and improve thermal energy efficiency on U.S. installations in Okinawa’s demanding climate. The presentation was polished, confident, and every bit as strong as work from a seasoned professional.
Beyond his project work, Jaden showed up for the Post. He joined SAME Japan meetings and gatherings, connected with members and fellow interns, and represented the program with energy and professionalism — exactly what we hope every SAME intern will do.
On site, he also walked the construction of the SLK VEKA window factory in Nago City, which is targeted to open / complete this fall — a fitting backdrop for an intern whose work sat at the heart of window systems and inventory.
From the Post“It was a pleasure working with Jaden this summer. He was the standout of our SAME Japan intern program. His final presentation was excellent — polished, confident, and every bit as strong as a seasoned professional. The team at SLK had high praise for his work, and it’s no surprise he already has a few offers for next summer. Keep raising the bar, Jaden. You’re just getting started.”— Wes Massaro, SAME Japan Post
Jaden closed his internship with a Certificate of Completion from SLK Japan and warm support from Moritake Ota, who opened the door to the opportunity and challenged him to grow technically and professionally. We’re grateful to SLK Japan and to Mr. Ota for investing in the next generation of engineers — and proud of Jaden for making the most of it.
